Diphenhydramine overdose during pregnancy: lessons from the past
Article Abstract:
Use of the drug diphenhydramine may cause uterine contractions and fetal distress in pregnant women. A 19-year-old 26 weeks' pregnant woman was brought to a hospital in a state of mental confusion and combativeness. She was experiencing uterine contractions every one to two minutes and a slowed fetal heart rate. A urine drug screen revealed she had taken acetaminophen and diphenhydramine. After treatment, the woman said she had taken 35 Benadryl pills and Tylenol in a suicide attempt. Doctors should be aware of the uterine-stimulating effect of diphenhydramine, which is found in Benadryl and Dramamine.

Intensive care in obstetrics: An evidence-based review
Article Abstract:
An evidence-based study is used to analyze the intensive care requirements of pregnant women due to complications of the pregnancy itself or as a result of nonobstetric conditions. It is suggested that the knowledge of maternal physiologic condition should be used to interpret and implement therapies and also care should be provided in consultation with a maternal fetal medicine specialist or obstetrician who is thoroughly familiar with the management of high-risk pregnancies.

A prospective masked observational study of uterine contraction frequency in twins
Article Abstract:
A prospective masked observational study is conducted comparing the frequency of uterine contractions between the twins' birth versus singletons and whether it can be responsible for spontaneous preterm birth in twin gestations. It was observed that the uterine activity increased as the pregnancy progressed and contractions also increased in women with twins.
