Doctors shouldn't discount risks to children of alcoholics
Article Abstract:
Physicians should inform substance-abusing parents of the risks their behavior constitutes for their children. Children whose parents are substance abusers have been shown to be more prone to developing physical and emotional problems as well as to be more likely to become substance abusers later in life. Physicians can directly or indirectly address the risks posed by parental substance abuse depending on the situation.

Doctors should remember the need for humanity
Article Abstract:
Physicians should treat patients with care and humanity rather than arrogance and excessive pride. Patients do not expect miracles from their doctors rather they want someone to explain their prognosis and help them choose between complicated treatment options. Several vignettes about doctors and patients are presented.
