Does impaired HIV viral fitness result in enhanced durability of the anti-HIV immune response?
Article Abstract:
Genotypic evolution of drug multiple drug resistance (MDR) infection over time and its impact on viremia and CD4 counts by following patients longitudinally in the absence of therapy was evaluated. Although the clinical relevance of the observations remains to be fully elucidated, these findings argue for the maintenance of the M184V mutation in patients after this substitution is selected for by antiviral therapy.

Resistance issues with new nucleoside/nucleotide backbone options
Article Abstract:
The wider range of choices available for NRTI/NtRTI backbones has increased the complexity of HIV resistance considerations in clinical practice. Ongoing monitoring of the prevalence of resistance and the resistance outcomes from long-term clinical trials will continue to play an important role in guiding selection of the NRTI/NtRTI backbone in combination ART.
