Driving down sick days
Article Abstract:
A survey indicates that the NHS staff takes an average of twelve sick days a year, compared with only six in the private sector. Trusts are using absence management services to monitor sickness of their staff, but the question is whether these companies are providing confidential support and advice to staff or whether they are simply the 'sickie police' designed to catch staff out or intimidate them into going back to work before they are ready.
