Eat more fiber for better health
Article Abstract:
The numerous benefits to be derived from eating fiber-packed foods are cited. Fibrous foods help reduce cholesterol, protect against colon cancer and benefits the gastrointestinal area since it regulates the movement of waste. A list of 10 fiber-packed foods is provided. These include dry breakfast cereals, oatmeal, fruit, potatoes, nuts, dried fruit, high-fiber bread, beans, vegetables and lentils.

Fiber mania - a gut issue

Dr. James Cerda stresses that most of the health benefits associated with dietary fiber are unproven. Cerda, who is a gastroenterology and nutrition professor, also notes that scientific data fails to indicate which form of dietary fiber is healthier. Cerda, however, believes that fiber can help prevent colorectal cancer and cardiovascular diseases.
