Effect of antenatal exposure to Saint John's wort (Hypericum) on neurobehavior of developing mice
Article Abstract:
The herbal medicine St. John's wort had no adverse neurological or behavioral effects on the offspring of mice who received the herb in their food in doses comparable to those a human would take adjusted for body weight. St. John's wort has been shown to be effective for treating depression and has fewer side effects than antidepressant drugs.

Effect of prenatally administered hypericum (St John's wort) on growth and physical maturation of mouse offspring
Article Abstract:
A study in mice shows that St. John's wort should have no serious adverse effects on the fetus when taken by pregnant women. This herb has been shown to be effective in treating depression and has fewer side effects than many antidepressants.

Impact of multiple antenatal doses of betamethasone on growth and development of mice offspring
Article Abstract:
Multiple doses of betamethasone in pregnant mice, including toxic dosages, did not effect the long-term growth, functional development, or reproductive capabilities of the surviving young. Sixty pregnant mice received two, four, or eight doses of betamethasone or placebo. Treated mice had fewer live births and fetal growth restriction, most pronounced at toxic, eight-dose levels. No effects persisted after 7 days. No long-term differences in growth, functional development, or fertility were seen between the offspring of treated or untreated mice.
