Effects of folic acid and vitamin B6 supplementation on women with hyperhomocysteinemia and a history of preeclampsia of fetal growth restriction
Article Abstract:
Folic acid and vitamin B6 supplements may improve fetal outcome in women with a history of preeclampsia who have elevated blood levels of homocysteine. Preeclampsia is characterized by hypertension during pregnancy and protein in the urine. Researchers tested 207 women with a history of preeclampsia or fetal growth restriction for elevated blood levels of homocysteine. Thirty-seven tested positive and were treated with folic acid and vitamin B6. Fourteen of these women became pregnant and half developed preeclampsia. However, birth weights were significantly higher than in previous pregnancies.

Ketanserin versus dihydralazine in the management of severe early-onset preeclampsia: maternal outcome
Article Abstract:
The antihypertensive drug ketanserin appears to be more effective than dihydralazine in preventing complications in pregnant women with preeclampsia. Preeclampsia is a complication of pregnancy characterized by high blood pressure and abnormal blood clotting. Researchers randomly assigned 44 pregnant women with preeclampsia before 32 weeks' gestation to take either ketanserin or dihydralazine. Both drugs lowered blood pressure to the same extent, but women taking ketanserin had fewer complications from preeclampsia.
