Ergonomics and behavior-based safety
Article Abstract:
Automakers Toyota Motor Manufacturing USA, Tenneco Automotive and Ford Motor found that their adoption and implementation of behavior-based safety (BBS) in their plants have reduced the incidence of work-related muscoskeletal injuries and illnesses among their employees. Through the BBS process, their safety systems have become proactive, which made at-risk behaviors easy to identify and prevent. They, however, remain to implement traditional safety measures such as ergonomic design, machine safeguarding and exposure monitoring.
