Extended work shifts and the risk of motor vehicle crashes among interns
Article Abstract:
A Web-based survey of students in their first postgraduate year (interns) was conducted to evaluate the effect of extended-duration work shifts on their health and safety. The results showed that extended-duration work shifts posed a serious and preventable safety hazard for the physicians and other motorists, apart from increasing the risk of failures of attention and serious medical errors.
