Breast cancer and oral contraceptive use in Asian-American women
Article Abstract:
Oral contraceptive (OC) use and its relationship to breast cancer in Asian-American women are discussed. Increased use of OCs after migration to the United States might explain the rapid rise in risk for breast cancer in women migrating from Asia to the US; a population-based case-control study has been carried out to look at this possibility. The risk almost doubles during the first decade following migration according to one study. The study suggests that OC use does not explain elevated risk in those who came to the US 7 years or more ago.

Comparison of methods for classifying Hispanic ethnicity in a population-based cancer registry
Article Abstract:
Medical record and surname offer the most accurate means of determining Hispanic ethnicity in demographic cancer registries. In comparing self-identification, medical record and surname, each was insufficient individually to account for incidence of cancer in the Hispanic population. Comparisons were made in California subjects ranging from 20 to 89 years of age.
