Formation of a facial hematoma during endodontic therapy
Article Abstract:
The authors present a cautionary description of an accidental injection of sodium hypochlorite into the gum tissues while using it to irrigate a patient's root canal system. The advantages of the chemical make it desirable for use, but extreme care must be exercised in its use, as this mistake caused extensive tissue damage around the mouth and eyes, requiring hospitalization.
