Article Abstract:
Maggy Wallace is leaving the United Kingdom Central Council for Nursing, Midwifery and Health Visiting (UKCC) after 12 years. During this time she progressed to become director for professional standards. She has seen, in her years with the UKCC, a move towards personal accountability in the nursing profession, and a move towards professional bodies taking on a role which is more supportive than dictatorial. She has seen the introduction of Project 2000, which she considers a success, and overseen the introduction of PREP, which she believes will withstand the test of time and change.
