High stakes for health care
Article Abstract:
The 1992 presidential election will precipitate health care reform no matter which candidate is elected because of the American public's conviction that reform is necessary. Clinton is calling for a universal, government-administered plan while Bush favors tax subsidies to fund private plans. Both plans emphasize HMO-type competitive service providers, which might hurt independent medical practices. Experts believe that increased taxes or reduced benefits will be the probable results of either strategy.
