Strategies to Sustain Success in Childhood Immunizations: The National Vaccine Advisory Committee
Article Abstract:
The Subcommittee on Immunization Coverage of the National Vaccine Advisory Committee (NVAC) has issued its recommendations for ensuring that all children are vaccinated. The subcommittee was formed in 1995 following an outbreak of measles in the US in 1989-1991. Many insurance companies do not pay for vaccination and so one of the recommendations is to ensure full insurance coverage of vaccination. Doctors should implement recall/reminder systems to help parents comply with vaccination. Resources are needed to help children in underserved areas especially.
