Health promotion and the state
Article Abstract:
The German government, bowing to the influence of the Ottawa Charter and the popular demand for reforms in symptom-oriented health care, mandated that national health insurance focus on promoting good health. The programs of the insurance plans are discussed, including the new thrust towards prevention.

Health promotion - a sound investment
Article Abstract:
Well-planned health promotion such as better working conditions and individual health benefits on behalf of workers, cause positive changes in employee attitudes, productivity and health. A successful health promotion scheme for public transport workers in Hamburg, Germany is cited.
