Health research funding losing ground
Article Abstract:
A new analysis points out that the United States is decreasing funds dedicated to health research, at a time when other nations, particularly, those in Asia are increasing their funds. Implications of the reduction in funding are being discussed by many in the research community who fear that the US government's support would move toward funding more clinical research rather than basic and 'translational' research, which falls between basic and commercially relevant research.
