Home away from home
Article Abstract:
Visiting nursing home patients may be frustrating and exhausting. Former carers may have difficulty relinquishing care to strangers. They may feel guilty about their inability to cope. Conflicts and personality clashes may develop. Difficulties may be intensified for nurse visitors as staff may misinterpret their desire to help. However, relationships with staff and other visitors provide support in an emotionally secure environment.

Facing up to MS
Article Abstract:
A nurse tells of coping with multiple sclerosis and of having had to wait 11 years before the disease was finally diagnosed. The symptoms she suffered were repeatedly attributed to some kind of viral infection. Tests for multiple sclerosis were only carried out after she had been referred to hospital for an eye problem. With support from those close to her and a positive attitude to life, she is continuing her nursing career.
