Hope & fear: genetic testing
Article Abstract:
Patients are very concerned about genetic testing. On one hand, 59% of patients would like to take advantage of genetic testing as a tool to help evaluate their risk for disease. On the other hand, 68% are concerned that genetic testing will be used to discriminate against them in employment and insurance. The American Medical Assn has taken a leadership role in assessing how to deliver information about genetic testing to physicians and patients.
