Hope in sight for retinoblastoma
Article Abstract:
A new method is developed for studying retinoblastoma gene (RB) tumors. The activation of E2F transcription factors induced by loss of pRB is used to selectively kill cells with mutations in the RB pathway and it is found that MDMX, a negative regulator of p53, is a critical target in retinoblastoma cells emphasizing the need to better understand the complex cellular networks centered on RB.

Pointing (zinc) fingers at BRCA1 targets
Article Abstract:
A description is presented on a new zinc finger protein, ZBRK1, and its role in breast cancer resistance and repair. ZBRK1-BRCA1 interaction appears to control transcription of some downstream effectors in the regulation of DNA damage-inducible genes, making it a potential tumor suppressor.

Suppression of tumor growth through disruption of hypoxia-inducible transcription
Article Abstract:
Research indicates that hypoxia-inducible transcription disruption, specifically at the CH1 domain of the binding protein transcirptional coactivators CREB and p300, may be a useful component of new cancer therapeutics, as many tumors are characterized by chronic hypoxia.
