How a new health care assistant role can support junior doctors
Article Abstract:
The uses of health care assistants by junior doctors in a British hospital are evaluated. Health care assistants were trained to perform peripheral cannulation, electrocardiogram recording, venipuncture and clerical support. Junior doctors found that health care assistants gave them more time to spend with patients and more time to consider medical care.
