Hybrid roles spark calls to keep reassuring 'nurse' title

A Career Framework for the National Health Service (NHS), was drawn up by the Modernization Agency and published in summer 2004, which outlines nine levels of health care workers linked to new pay under the Agenda for Change pay system. The nurses state that they want titles that encapsulate their nursing role and reassure patients that first they are a nurse.

The numbers of nurse partners in health centres and general practitioner practices in the UK is rising and the interest is growing as changes in primary care open the opportunities to new prospects. There would be many people, including nurses who would set up their own private companies, not-for-profit organizations and mutual organizations in future.

Research suggests that almost two-thirds of Filipino nurses working in the UK are looking for jobs in other countries. Some of the reasons for leaving include their greater demand in global labor market, the UK work's limited permits and exploitation and under-grading by employers.
