IG asks why more hospitals don't report adverse actions
Article Abstract:
The Health and Human Services' Office of the Inspector General found that most US hospitals have not reported physician disciplinary cases to the National Practitioner Data Bank. Some of the reasons why hospitals have failed to report these cases include hospitals avoiding the requirement and hospitals instituting preventative programs that preclude physician problems. The agency is worried about the possibility of hospitals circumventing the reporting requirements because such actions could result in patients getting treatment from incompetent health care providers.

California doctors restructure
Article Abstract:
The California Medical Association (CMA) has restructured, creating new mechanisms in an effort to enhance ethnic group, practice setting and specialty representation within the organization. The CMA has modified its House of Delegates to include a 'mode of practice forums' which address the different work environments used by its membership. The association has also created a structure for ethnic medical groups to improve multicultural communications.
