Improving the health of nomadic people -- the example of cystic hydatid disease
Article Abstract:
The Turkana District is located in north-western Kenya and is the home of the Turkana people, a nomadic group which has an unusually high rate of cystic hydatid disease. The disease is often communicated from a dog, and so a program was instituted starting in 1983 to try and decrease the disease in dogs. Information was also disseminated to the people of Turkana.
