In antitrust relief fight, whose side are lawyers on?
Article Abstract:
The American Medical Assn and many health industry officials believe that attorneys who are supposed to be representing the health care industry clarify antitrust laws are actually undermining those efforts. Antitrust lawyers disagree with that opinion and claim that it is in the best interests of hospitals to oppose antitrust clarifications. Many attorneys believe that is critical to a successful free market to avoid the antitrust enforcements being sought by some medical groups.

More states hold managed care accountable
Article Abstract:
Managed care is being held responsible in an increasing number of cases that involve patient injury. Decisions made by courts and laws passed by state legislatures are reinterpreting the protection granted to managed care through the 1974 Employee Retirement Income Security Act, which affects self-insured plans. Texas has passed a managed care accountability act, and a similar law is pending in Ohio.
