New treatment protocol including lympholytic and antiretroviral drugs to inhibit murine AIDS
Article Abstract:
A drug combination that includes the drug fludarabine and AZT may be effective in eliminating HIV from cells, according to a study in mice. Three two-week cycles was more effective than two three-week cycles in eradicating the virus.

Inhibition of murine AIDS by alternate administration of azidothymidine and fludarabine monophosphate
Article Abstract:
The drug fludarabine can eliminate immune cells that are already infected with HIV. Therefore, it can be given alternately with AZT, which prevents uninfected cells from becoming infected. This treatment was effective in mice who had the mouse version of AIDS.

Role of macrophage protection in the development of murine AIDS
Article Abstract:
Macrophages can be protected from infection by HIV by mixing them with red blood cells that contain AIDS drugs. Macrophages are a type of immune cell and they were protected from infection in a study of the mouse version of AIDS.
