Conflict management in nursing administration
Article Abstract:
Nurse managers deal each day with internal and external conflicts, and managers consider their capacity to negotiate to have become important in the last decade. According to a study by the American Management Assn, managers spend about 20% of their work time dealing with conflict. Areas causing conflict within nursing include physician authority, stress, space, values, and defiant behavior. Resolutions to conflict should look forward rather than backward.

Improving documentation of initial nursing assessment
Article Abstract:
Improvement of initial nursing assessment forms results from their integration with standards for outcomes of patient care. A case study of such integration covers problem identification, outcome standards and redesign of the form. The new form has three sections, including patient data, clinical data, analyses and a problem list. Once problems are identified, an individual care plan can be implemented.
