Is meat-free the way to be?
Article Abstract:
A vegetarian diet is defined as someone who eats no meet whatsoever, including poultry and fish. A lacto-ovo vegetarian eats dairy and eggs, and a lacto-vegetarian eats dairy but no eggs. Vegans eat no animal products at all. Many people in the US are tending towards meat-restricted diets to lower risk of coronary artery disease, cancer, diabetes and other health problems. Vegetarians and vegans should make sure to consume enough calories to meet energy needs.

Holiday gatherings: navigating non-vegetarian events
Article Abstract:
Holidays are also known for the abundance of food at the table but at times so much of food is meat-centric that at such situations vegetarians find that there is very little for them to eat. Some vegetarians may be accused at the gatherings, which unites family and friends because of their refusal to eat non-vegetarian food.

Ovo, lacto or vegan?

A vegetarian diet must be sure to include quality protein and sufficient vitamin C, iron, calcium and phytic acid. A sample lacto-ovo vegetarian diet is included.
