Lack of Fas antagonism by Met in human fatty liver disease
Article Abstract:
The hepatocyte growth factor receptor (Met) has played a vital role in preventing Fas-mediated apoptosis of hepatocytes by sequestering Fas and it is also shown that Fas antagonism by Met is abrogated in human fatty liver disease (FLD). Mouse models of FLD are used for showing that the synthetic YLGA peptide has tempered hepatocyte apoptosis and liver damage and therefore have therapeutic potential.

Promiscuous regulator of xenobiotic removal
Article Abstract:
This article examines the physiological and genetic aspects of drug metabolism, focusing on the role of transcription factor steroid xenobiotic receptor in the regulation of a drug metabolizing enzyme. Topics include drug metabolizing enzymes located in the liver and intestine, the regulation of drug transport proteins, and how scientists can develop less toxic, more effective drugs.

The orphan nuclear receptor SXR coordinately regulates drug metabolism and efflux
Article Abstract:
Research presented concerns the regulatory properties of steroid and xenobiotic receptor (SXR) that impact drug catabolism mediator cytochrome P450 3A4. Research reveals SXR's role in drug efflux regulation, and how the chemotherapeutic agents paclitaxel and docetaxel interact with SXR and mediators of drug clearance.
