Life after the China seize
Article Abstract:
The delivery of health services in Hong Kong has changed little since the territory was handed over to the People's Republic of China on June 30 1997, say some nursing officials in the region. Political changes have not affected the long-term plans which were initiated prior to the handover, although changes in economic conditions have created change. The number of expatriate patients at some private hospitals has fallen, while the number of expatriate nursing staff has declined due to stricter immigration controls. Nursing staff claim their lifestyles remain virtually unchanged, however.
