Lineage infidelity of epithelial ovarian cancers is controlled by HOX genes that specify regional identity in the reproductive tract
Article Abstract:
A study investigates whether histologic differentiation of the distinct subtypes of epithelial ovarian cancers (EOCs) involves aberrant expression of Abd-B-like HOX genes. It was found that HOX genes, which normally regulate mullerian duct differentiation, are not expressed in normal ovarian surface epithelium (OSE), but are expressed in different EOC subtypes according to the pattern of mullerian-like differentiation of these cancers.

GTP cyclohydrolase and tetrahydrobioterin regulate pain sensitivity and persistence
Article Abstract:
GTP-cyclohydrolase (GCH1), the rate-limiting enzyme for tetrahydrobiopterin (BH4) synthesis is a key modulator of peripheral neuropathic and inflammatory pain. It is concluded that BH4 is an intrinsic regulator of pain sensitivity and chronicity, and the GTP cyclohydrolase haplotype is a marker for these traits.

The RAB25 small GTPase determines aggressiveness of ovarian and breast cancers
Article Abstract:
The role of RAB25 in the aggressiveness of ovarian and breast cancers is evaluated by altering RAB25 levels. The study implicates RAB25 in the aggressiveness of ovarian and breast carcinomas suggesting that RAB25 can be used to predict patient outcome and may provide a novel therapeutic target. .
