Making sense of hypothermia
Article Abstract:
Hypothermia is a preventable physical state often influenced by health and social conditions. Elderly people are particularly susceptible due to the natural process of ageing, physical problems and low income. Nurses should assume a preventive role. They should visit the lone elderly advising on nutrition and cold weather management. Patients suffering from hypothermia require emergency treatment. However, body temperature should be raised slowly to avoid attendant complications.
