Managing chemotherapy for tuberculosis
Article Abstract:
Tuberculosis (TB), which is caused by an infection by a mycobacterium, is initially treated over a two-month period with three drugs, most commonly pyrazinamide, rifampicin and isoniazid. There is then a four-month continuation phase, during which isoniazid and rifampicin are still used. Rifampicin acts as a bactericide on all groups of TB bacilli, while pyrazinamide acts against inactive bacilli and isoniazid prevents resistance to other anti-tuberculosis drugs.

Managing occupational health services in NHS trusts
Article Abstract:
Occupational health nurse managers must develop a comprehensive service within the NHS to meet the needs of all staff. The service needs to provide a wide range of facilities to employees, including immunisation programmes, health hazard evaluation, health in the workplace, counselling and health assessments. The occupaitonal health (OH) service should function as an advisory service and should recognise the needs to evaluate their work.
