Mechanisms of disease: exercise limitation in health and disease
Article Abstract:
Capacity to perform exercise is influenced by the health status of the performer. Exercise is defined as the oxidation of carbohydrate and fat to generate the adenosine triphosphate essential for muscle function. Exercise limitations are indicated in patients with cardiac disorders who expend more energy for breathing and to exercise muscle for a given power output than normal, healthy subjects.

The paradox of exercise
Article Abstract:
Regular exercise overall has positive effects on the heart. A study published in 2000 showed that vigorous exercise can trigger sudden death but this risk could paradoxically be reduced by regular exercise. The most important lesson is that people who are sedentary should begin exercising slowly and gradually increase its intensity.

Cardiomyopathy and exercise intolerance in muscle glycogen storage disease 0
Article Abstract:
A case study of three siblings having profound muscle glycogen deficiency and homozygous stop mutations in glycogen synthase 1 gene is presented. It is revealed that glycogen storage is crucial for glucose homeostatis and for providing energy supplement during exercise.
