The Medical Repository - the first U.S. medical journal (1797-1824)
Article Abstract:
The Medical Repository was the first organized medical journal in the newly independent American colonies. Its publication in 1797 was spurred partly by the British blockade during the Revolution, which resulted in a loss of British medical journals. The founders were Elihu Hubbard Smith, Samuel Latham Mitchill and Edward Miller. The journal focused on the epidemics of disease affecting the colonies, such as yellow fever. It also contained book excerpts, and news about lectures, other publications, and medical schools. It ceased publication in 1824 after exceeding the average life span for a U.S. medical journal by over 20 years.

Article Abstract:
Free movement of labor within the European Union maybe legal but it is not necessarily easy, not least because of language barriers. It is suggested that maintaining the ability to understand one another will help to read the patient's condition, decipher the signs and symptoms of disease, and translate accurate diagnoses into appropriate medical care.
