Memories are made of this
Article Abstract:
Nurses who work at the UK's 40 memory clinics, which treat patients with Alzheimer's disease, are to be offered a new training and development programme as part of the Royal College of Nursing Institute's Gerontological Programme. Discussions are now being held about what issues the programme should address, but these will include support for those who care for people suffering from Alzheimer's disease. The team working on the programme will in autumn 1998 launch a resource pack that will give information to nurses working in memory clinics about how to develop their roles.

Board here to fast track
Article Abstract:
The UK government and nurse education organisations are taking a more flexible approach to training nurses by increasing the number of clinical practice lecturers and making it easier for nurses to apply for and take part in training courses. Up to 800 million pounds sterling is invested in nurse education each year in the UK, although there is a significant short fall in the number of qualified nurses available for work throughout the National Health Service.
