Dysmenorrhea, pain and cramping during menstruation, afflicts 70% of women of reproductive age. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs block the prostaglandins that cause cramping. Heavy bleeding or menorrhagia is treated with NSAIDs, endometrial ablation and progesterone.

Update on fibroid tumors
Article Abstract:
Hysterectomy may not be the best treatment for fibroid tumors of the uterus. An alternative to hysterectomy is myomectomy, which removes the fibroids but not the uterus. Fibroids that are not causing any problems may not require any treatment.
