Mental health in China
Article Abstract:
Since 1978, the plight of the mentally disabled has been of great concern. The number of cases has risen and in 1995 there are now about 11 mil Chinese with serious mental problems. Both hospital-based and community-based services are available including employment programs.

Article Abstract:
The World Bank loaned China $55 million to create a program for treating tuberculosis and stopping its spread. Many patients, especially those in rural areas, were not completing the 6-month treatment necessary to cure the disease.

A success in China
Article Abstract:
China and the World Bank are financing a $113 million project to cut deaths from tuberculosis, which now average 250,000 a year in China. Over 90% of the newly diagnosed cases of TB have already been helped by the campaign.
