Michigan doctors' group enlists management firm

The 260-member independent doctors' organization, Northern Physicians Organization, based in Traverse City, MI, has entered into a contract with PhyCor Inc for management and technical services. The contract with the national physician management company, PhyCor, is for a five-year period that started on Jul 1, 1996. Terms of the contract differ from the typical arrangements that PhyCor makes with doctors' groups.

The pros & cons of patient financing programs
Article Abstract:
There are advantages and disadvantages to physicians who decide to join medical credit financing programs. These programs often help increase patient volume because it enables patients who cannot afford elective surgery to opt for such surgery by being able to apply for medical financing. However, physicians must pay a fee to join such programs, and they will realize reduced income for their medical procedures.
