Article Abstract:
Nurses find the suicide of a colleague hard to deal with because feelings of guilt arise from being in a profession which should be able to recognize and care for potential suicides. Nurses are under lot of stress from long working hours, difficult working situations and low pay which often leads to debt. About 247 UK nurses killed themselves between 1988 and 1992, accounting for 5% of all suicides involving females. The Royal College of Nursing would like all nurses to receive regular personal counselling.
