Mobilizing for safe motherhood in Nepal
Article Abstract:
In Nepal pregnancy and reproduction are part of deeply held cultural beliefs. The Nepalese believe that childbirth is a natural process and no health care intervention is limited and there is a high incidence of maternal mortality. Knowledge in Nepal is primarily passed from person to person yet movements like International Women's Day in 1996 have been able to change some beliefs.

Safe motherhood action in China
Article Abstract:
China is a huge country and it faces various health problems, including a high rate of maternal mortality in rural areas. Since 1991 China, with help, has attempted to strengthen services and develop the skills of health care personnel. Citizens are given information on risk factors and health issues. Results have been promising.

How much does safe motherhood cost?
Article Abstract:
The World Health Organization, along with the World Bank, has developed the Mother-Baby Package Costing Spreadsheet. The spreadsheet can be used to understand the costs of the maternal health care. An analysis of costs associated with maternal services and interventions is presented.
