Changes in dietary intake account for seasonal changes in cardiovascular disease risk factors
Article Abstract:
The seasonal rise in fat and cholesterol intake during the winter identified in 94 male employees at two factories in Israel is linked with changes in body mass index (BMI) and serum cholesterol. The largest seasonal change in biochemical measurements was in serum LDL, raised levels of which are known to increase the long-term risk of developing coronary heart disease. It is clear that there is a need to modify the diet of industrial employees, possibly through interventions in the workplace.

Atheroprotective effects of high-density lipoproteins
Article Abstract:
This review summarizes the molecular mechanisms, which govern the atheroprotective effects of high-density lipoproteins (HDL). Research points out that the atherogenic effect of HDL is mediated via its involvement in reverse cholesterol transport, protection against endothelial dysfunction, and oxidative stress inhibition.
