Necrotic cell injury in the preterm and near-term ovine fetal brain after intermittent umbilical cord occlusionz
Article Abstract:
The extent of necrotic cell death is determined as a measure of neurologic injury in the preterm and near-term ovine fetal brain in response to intermittent umbilical cord occlusion (UCO) with severe, but limited hypoxia and no cumulative acidosis to ensure longer-term survival. It is concluded that intermittent cord occlusion insult with severe but limited fetal hypoxemia and no cumulative acidosis, is generally well tolerated in both the preterm and near-term animal groups.

Spontaneous hypoxia in multiple pregnancies is associated with early fetal decompensation and enhanced T-wave elevation during brief repeated cord occlusion in near-term fetal sheep
Article Abstract:
The hypothesis is examined that fetuses from multiple pregnancies that exhibited spontaneous, stable hypoxia would demonstrate more rapid development of metabolic acidosis and hypotension during short repeated episodes of umbilical cord occlusion than normoxic singleton or twin fetuses. The hypothesis is studied with an aim to determine whether this deterioration could be identified by changes in T/QRS height or ST waveform shape.

Fetal response to maternal methadone administration
Article Abstract:
A study is conducted to investigate the effect of methadone on fetal neurobehavioral functions and maternal physiologic indicators. The result shows that maternal methadone administration has significant effects on fetal behavioral functions that are independent of maternal effects.
