Neonatal Screening Varies by State of Birth
Article Abstract:
The Newborn Screening Task Force convened in May 1999 by the American Academy of Pediatrics has developed guidelines for standardizing all medical screening of newborn babies. As of 2000, different states screen babies for different diseases and many do not properly educate parents about the nature of the tests.

New vaccine should ease meningitis fears
Article Abstract:
The new meningococcal conjugate vaccine can drastically reduce the prevalence of invasive meningococcal disease caused by Neisseria meningitidis serogroups A, C, Y, and W-135. Details of new vaccine in relations to its effectiveness and improved immunity are discussed.
