New guidance on long-term oxygen therapy management and delivery
Article Abstract:
The new guidance on the way long-term oxygen therapy is managed and delivered would be implemented in 2005 with an aim to reduce the number of patients who receive the treatment inappropriately. The major change in the guidance is that the responsibility for ordering long-term oxygen therapy would be transferred from the GP to a specialist hospital consultant who would decide the patient's need for oxygen therapy after consultation with the patient.

On the beat
Article Abstract:
UK police authorities are seeking to reduce the number of man-hours lost through job-stress by employing occupational health advisers to give both medical and psychological assistance. Police officers can suffer severe psychological stress brought about by witnessing distressing scenes, such as car accidents and violent assaults. Physical injuries may occur during work or training, which need to be assessed by medical professionals. Occupational health nurses can help police policy on issues such as infectious diseases and counselling.
