New guidelines released for managing cough

Health care workers can now draw from more than 200 new recommendations from evidence-based guidelines for diagnosing and managing acute, sub acute, and chronic cough due to a new document published by the American College of Chest Physicians. Diagnosis and Management of Cough: Evidence-Based Clinical Practice Guidelines provides recommendations for identifying and treating everything from the common cold to chronic lung conditions.

Gene variant confers risk of diabetes
Article Abstract:
A number of studies conducted by researchers identified a variant in a gene that is the most significant genetic risk factor for type 2 diabetes. The genetic variant identified is located within gene encoding, a protein called transcription factor 7-like 2 (TCF7L2) and it is known to control the activity of a number of genes.
