New think tank revises reimbursement plan
Article Abstract:
Boondocks Medical Society Institute fellows Samuel D. Porter and John K. MacGregor wrote the Rural Barter Recipient Vendor Systems as an alternative to the Health Care Financing Administration's resource-based relative value scale. The authors substituted basic reimbursement units derived from Department of Agriculture standards for currency. In their plan, an initial consultation is worth a crate of Grade AA jumbo eggs. The system eliminates forms, conversion factors and long waits for reimbursement.
