California reform fight: managed competition vies with CMA plan
Article Abstract:
California's legislature has passed a law calling for a commission to reform the state's health insurance, auto insurance and workers' compensation. Gov Pete Wilson, who opposes this bill, has proposed a law that guarantees coverage and renewals to small businesses, limits pre-existing condition clauses and controls rate increases. Also, Wilson opposes a California Medical Assn plan which would require employers to buy health insurance for workers and their families. Details and assessments of these plans are outlined.
