Nurse-led arterial blood gas sampling for patients
Article Abstract:
Assessments for long-term oxygen therapy, which were traditionally carried out by doctors, are undertaken by respiratory nurse specialists, who are skilled in arterial blood sampling. A competency-based education and training program for nurses to carry out the procedure is described, along with the essential components of competency assessment.

Trusts must act early to aid nurses on sick leave

The new proposals drawn by unions and NHS Employers suggest that the trusts should take early steps to aid nurses on sick leave. The scheme intends on preventing staff from being on leave for long periods without any income.
