Nurses' perceptions of the elements of good supervision
Article Abstract:
A recent study has looked at the qualities which make a good supervisor/assessor from the point of view of the nurse being supervised. It was found that there are core qualities which are valued by all students. These include a positive and enthusiastic approach by the supervisor, encouraging and supporting the student and an in-depth knowledge of the specialist nursing practices of the clinical area concerned. Other qualities vary according to the particular needs of the student.

A critical approach to evidence provided through clinical trials
Article Abstract:
The evidence provided by randomized controlled trials (RCTs) is generally considered to represent the highest form of science and therefore the benchmark from which to judge the effectiveness of all treatments. The challenge is to ask what type of evidence is most relevant in any given situation and to adopt a thoughtful approach towards various types and uses of evidence.
