Article Abstract:
The UK National Health Service (NHS) has been slow to respond to government urges that it should harness the power of information technology (IT) to improve communication, increase knowledge, and extend services. One reason for this situation is that the small amount of finance available for IT has largely gone into supporting the NHS contracting system. Another reason is fear of investing in a system which proves to be an expensive mistake. The government is supporting the development of a common code which will give health personnel access to local and national NHS information.

Union calls for nurses to picket evangelists' 'smacking' conference
Article Abstract:
A Christian evangelist couple who extol the virtues of smacking young children to make them better behaved are being condemned by health groups throughout the UK. Nurses unions are seeking support from nurses for a demonstration at the conference where the two American evangelists will address a christian conference on education and parenting. Gary and Anne Marie Ezzo claim babies should not be demand fed and children over the age of 18 months should be hit with a flexible instrument at least five times a day to make them behave.
